I'm agreeing with this (in theory) the value should stay constant forever..


even after taking out 4% every year. Investments have increased 7% on average over the last 100 years etc. so take out 4% the rest is inflation and/or taxed etc. 4% should be a larger number in out years to cover inflation gains.

I'm not convinced investments will go up 7% per year in the future, but that's a different argument.
